23 pilots and 6 teams registered. The CMFs opened up an early
lead in the teams/shenanigans comp with the "TD Shirt Sting" -
more on this
here.
Light and scariable and bloody hot. Conditions were great but getting into the
air was a nightmare. Often every windsock in the paddock was pointing in a
different direction. There was a bit of carnage - some tail wind landings. Gordo
blew a couple of expensive Moyes "tin-foil" downtubes. Phil Knight also had a
nasty landing breaking a tip-wand and a downtube. Nobody was hurt.
There were 2 strip changes! People finally managed to get some towing done at
around 3:30pm. James Freeman made goal in 1:40 (Goomalling 65kms). Next closest
was Mole 48kms, then Jamie and Gavin. A few others made it out but did not get
past Dowerin. Most people who did get up got to 10,000' ASL.
