Task 2
Light and Scariable again.
Task was called for Dowerin TP and back to Wylie.
The day was largely determined by who managed to get away between 13:00 and
13:30. After 13:30 the wind switched and there were no successful launches until
the strip was changed from North to South and the window opened at 15:00. By
then it was a bit late to make much of an impression on the course although a
lot of people got up and had flights of 0 to 15 km.
Murray Wood put in an excellent 4 hour flight making goal (78.4km) at 17:00.
Just behind was Steve Ewen with 73.5km, Dave Wellington
was 3rd and the last to make the turn
point with a 55.1km flight.
Paul Blachford (40.9km) and Matt Coull (29.6km)
patiently worked a weak thermal over the paddock at less than 1000 feet for half
an hour and were rewarded with a climb out and 4th and 5th place for the day.
Everyone else landed within 15km of the paddock.
