Task 1
22 pilots and 5 teams registered. The wind was 15 knots gusting to 20 knots from the SE. Goal was set as Ballidu with no turn points, a total distance of 97kms.
Most pilots
got away but were unable to get above 4000 feet AGL. Gary Wright got the fastest
time, but Mark Thompson beat him with early departure points. Mark Stokoe had
put in the incorrect goal coordinates and landed just short. Jon Orders also got
close and crashed after leaving his final turn into the wind too late. He was
left with a badly bent glider and a nasty puncture wound to his upper arm.
